Downey Restaurants: Firestone to Florence, Your Oil Picked Up on Schedule

Downey holds a unique place in American fast food history — the city is home to the oldest operating McDonald's, a 1953 original on Lakewood Boulevard that still draws visitors from around the world. But beyond the landmark, Downey's restaurant scene stretches across Firestone Boulevard, one of the longest and most commercially active streets in southeast LA County. The corridor from the 605 freeway to the eastern city boundary is packed with Mexican restaurants, pizza shops, burger joints, and family dining spots that collectively generate substantial daily oil volumes.

Downey Landing, the retail and dining complex built on the former NASA Downey site along Lakewood Boulevard, has added a modern layer of chain restaurants and casual dining operations to the city's food landscape. The Florence Avenue and Imperial Highway corridors provide additional restaurant density connecting Downey to the neighboring cities of Norwalk and Pico Rivera.

Our Downey routes are organized around two axes: the Firestone Boulevard east-west corridor, and the Lakewood Boulevard north-south strip including Downey Landing. These two routes intersect in central Downey, giving us flexibility to add stops in the residential-adjacent commercial pockets between the main corridors. Pickup scheduling accounts for the heavy lunch traffic on Firestone, with morning service completing before the midday rush fills the boulevard's restaurant parking lots.
